I guess with the hot spring bath, this did turn into the most fan service episode yet.

Good for them though, being able to enjoy and experience life. For most parts, I'm glad to see Maria and Wridra making happy memories. I'm sure either won't ever forget them.

Finally! After 8 episodes, they went to somewhere far from their apartment. It was finally a real adventure in Japan, in Chichibu.

It's almost as if this anime is funded by Japan tourism industry, but not as obvious as Okitsura.

Aw what an episode! We got a dragon waifu in modern Japan, welcome back Dragon Maid lmao.

Widra as expected is a great addition to the cast and seems like she’ll be the catalyst needed to get Marie and Kazuhiho closer. I mean in just one episode she helped Marie do more than she’d done all season to let Kazuhiho know she’s a woman with feelings.

The onsen trip was so sweet. Marie getting all flustered when Widra said she’d been listening in on their convos was too cute. Looks like instead of being a love rival, she’s just gonna be a big sister figure to Marie which is great

I’ve seen some light streak censorship but holy shit that one on screen when Widra stood up in the bath almost blinded me lmao

Awwwwwww that kiss, yes Marie you go girl let him know how you feel!! We are all routing for you. Knowing Kazuhiho’s dense ass he probably still won’t know, but it’s a start. Time to go on the offensive. I love them sm

Also chichibu mentioned! Anohana flashbacks intensify..

@phantomfandom It's not at all though. It's simply an author writing their story which got adapted into an anime. Lots of anime that take place in "real life" Japan will use actual places from Japan because it simply makes sense to do so. Similar to how movies and shows that take place in the united states will use actual cities from it like New York and such. Why make up new places and cities for a show that takes place in a real life location? There's really no need.

So who's watching the kids while she's away? With the difference in the passage of time between the two places and the sleazeball having sussed out their location, it's worrisome that he'll get some stupid ideas and the lizards won't be enough to keep him at bay. They can't even rely on the golems since they only reacted to his stealth after Wridra spotted him.

Hopefully the worry is groundless, there's nothing worse in these stories than seeing traumatized kids regardless of species.

Smoke and white lines are still public enemy no 1 in onsen episodes.

Good dragon helping out good little Elf.

Good. Kazuhiho can keep Marie for himself, and I get the dragon waifu.

A generous dose of fan service for this mostly sweet show.

Dragon lady hard carries this anime.

I was close to dropping it after episode 1, but episode 2 gave me hope with Wridra so I endured the boring highschool romance episodes waiting for her to return.

@Aldaric Then definitely don't drop it!!! If they ever make season 2 or you read the manga, you'll definitely get to see way more of her as it goes on too. Obviously the focus is still on Marie and Kazu, but I'd say at least 75% of the chapters after this point have Wridra in them.

Whatever you say about this one being the fan service episode (forgetting entirely that there's a beach episode coming if the ending of every episode is to be believed)... You're right (exhibit A: Even Marie thinks, "Holy F! THEY'RE MASSIVE")

Then again, that Wridra is such a blast! Marie's crazy Onee-san:

What a wonderful and heartwarming episode. Been waiting for the Dragon to go to Earth, and they had a lot of fun. The episodes on Earth are just so much more enjoyable than the ones in the other world.

I just hope the Dragon babies are OK by themselves.

I remember some line from the dragon that just part of her is going into her humanoid avatar, and that she is mostly reaming back in her nest.

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

Wridra really is a great addition into the show, I know she was a thing since basically the beginning but this is the first proper episode she's been fully in. She really is the older sister type for Marie I love how she can be wise but childish at the same time. She's a great character which don't at all throw off the dynamic of the main cast. She wasn't needed but I love that she's a part of the show.

On the other hand it feels like were gonna hopefully be getting some major development between Kazu and Marie's romance now. Up until this episode its been very subtle.

@LordCrueltyV Which is weird. Unless they just don't want to change ratings, since plenty of other CR shows have shown more. Including nipples, btw.

@Sheol01 Crunhyroll seems to have some sort of internal graduated rating system, rather that just copying a TV system. This one is 14+, they have a 12+, 16+, and 18+ as well.

There is no comparison between the fantasy part and the slice of life/romance part, it's a thousand times better and more entertaining and more so seeing that there is love development.

@LordCrueltyV Even if they weren't covered, I don't think breasts without nipples should be considered obscene nudity, i mean there's nothing truly intimate exposed. Ironically, aren't Barbie dolls with nipple-less bare breasts sold to children right now?

Wow, I think this episode was really cute and interesting. In the last episodes it was quite clear that both have some feeling for each other, but now its set that Marie is actually in love with Kazuhiho (and according to his reaction he's too). This was very well played in this episode and it was really funny how Wridra interacted with them (so that their relationship can develop more). ;)

Aaaaaaaaaaa... Wredra!! An amazing addition to the series!! I absolutely love the character! I hope she uses some ability to start speaking Japanese without having to learn it, haha.

From now on, I’m a fan of Wredra! (Just to avoid any misunderstanding… I mean as a character, and I’m excited for what’s to come!)
I love slice-of-life works.

Seems like Wridra has some sort of ability to be in two places at once, her human form going to Japan while her dragon form guards her... pups? Also, this anime just seems to make the protagonists utterly overpowered for the most part, diminishing most of the apparent danger. Sorcerer sneaking into ruins under invisibility spell? The arkdragon can detect them anyway. (Although, fair enough I guess, unexpected invisibility matched with unexpected detection.) Wridra needs clothes and Maria needs to hide her ears? Handled. Gang of bandits? Probably the most even match, Kazuhiho's evasion just high enough to survive.

Looks like inviting Wridra to the hot spring trip wasn't an error at all. Very good wing-woman (heh) for Maria.

Really succinct summary of the problem here. xD
